My computer has been down for the past two weeks, and I was procrastinating reformatting it because I'm lazy that way, but when I finally decide it's time to be done with it, I can't find my Windows XP CD. That, plus my Microsoft Office CD has disappeared, though I know I brought it back when I moved back from London. The missing Microsoft Office CD is more annoying, because I bought it myself and it still had unused licenses for two more computers. GYAH.

So now I'm thinking... Is this an omen that I have to move on to Windows Vista? I've heard nothing but its flaws and bug-riddledness, but it's only a matter of time before all PCs move on to it, right?

On a different topic, this Disney blog had copied some text from my site, and was hotlinking a bunch of pictures. There's a bunch of other stuff there as well, and I suspect most of it is copied-and-pasted as well. Feel free to check it out and nudge her if your stuff got nicked as well.

Hotlinking is bad, people.

Have the balls to sign a name, even if it's a fake one, because if you sign it Anon it renders your otherwise entitled opinion null and void. For two seconds I thought about deleting it, but nah, I find morbid pleasure in saving these things. (I have the first flame I ever received for a Mulan fanfic I wrote ages ago. Mmmmm.)

Any My Little Pony fans on my flist who are familiar with wiki vandalism, check out the history page for the My Little Pony: The Movie page. I've had to revert a vandal's edits a few times over the past few days but the thing that amazes me is how much effort this person put into messing up the text -- because instead of just inserting a few vandal-type lines, they go all out and rewrite the whole thing AND they do it from a different IP address each time. What amazed me further was their edit to the Bloopers section because the vandal changed "Posey" to "yellow-colored Pony", meaning that this person is someone familiar with the show and is very likely a fan, albeit a whacked-up one who likes to vandal wiki.

Just finished uploading the skeleton of mah new website, deciding on the layout took way longer than I thought it would. If anyone was curious to the subject of the new site, the icon I used in my previous post should've been a clue. As is the icon in this post, actually.

VOILA!

Okay, so almost all the pages are near-empty and some of the links don't work, but it's a start. Thanks to everyone that participated in the previous poll, trying to choose a free host was giving me a headache. Additional lovin' and thanks to [info]kidagakash84, who knows why. I hope. :D

I'm working on yet another uber-geeky website project, and I hope to get it uploaded by the end of the week because I am that sad. For the moment I'm going to host it on a free webhost, but I would like some information from you, fellow web-surfer, on the type of webhost I should choose. Thus:

Poll #820482 Free Webhosts Always Have a Catch
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 28

Which is LESS annoying?

So, I'm transcribing the movie script for Pocahontas right, and argh I've discovered that there are discrepancies between the lyrics in the official soundtrack booklet with those in the official DVD subtitles.

I mean, Disney can afford to get DVD subtitles done accurately, right? They're the ones who probably own stacks and stacks of previous movie scripts and produce their own DVDs, right? I should be able to trust their subtitles, right? So what about the CD booklet? Those are produced in-house by Disney, too, right? So shouldn't I be able to put my trust in their accuracy, as well? Who should I trust now?

Funnily enough, the DVD subtitles were no help whatsoever with the Algonqian dialogue. I had to refer to the official novelisation for those.

Cool, a nudge feature.

I have also just finished watching all 52 episodes of Full Moon wo Sagashite -- no mean feat, considering I started late Saturday afternoon and completed them by bedtime Sunday night. The unfortunate side effect of such a marathon is my current need to make exaggerated genki faces and sweatdrop-drawing-motions. ^^;;

Dude. Encoding videos into reasonably small downloadable formats is such a hassle. But yay, more stuff for the site!

And yet, Peter Andre's Kiss the Girl still gives me hives. *sporks*

Somewhere in April I made the resolution not to buy any more DVDs until June. Having lost access to ebay and amazon.co.uk made me twitchy so I was snatching up DVDs left, right and centre. Then I remembered that I have to save up for the October onslaught of Little Mermaid merchandise, plus a super sekrit project that I don't want to elaborate on just yet, in case I jinx it and it doesn't happen. Hence, no more DVDs until June.

But the other day I saw some things that I had to get, and I figured that since they were books, they didn't count as part of the fast. Besides, I have a 9-to-5 job now, and I deserve some rewards, right? Don't answer that. XD

Book 1: Villains: The Top Secret Files

This one was little pricey, but dayum, it was designed by people who actually know the movies.

The Disney Villain merchandise line seems to be getting better treatment than the Disney Princess line, and that's all sorts of ironic. Besides the "Their Side of the Story" books (which are awesome and twisted), I found this Top Secret Files quite some time back but didn't get it because I couldn't browse through it first.

Then I went to a store that had a browsing copy, and when the book made me literally LOL I knew that I had to get it. The concept is as though "Villain Specialist" has compiled information, notes and artifacts related to a few of the Disney Villains. The villains featured are the Wicked Queen, Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, Jafar, Ursula, Yzma, Madam Medusa, the Wicked Stepmother and Gaston.

A sample of the contents inside. Image-heavy. )

Book 2: Ariel's Secret.

A Disney Princess product. The story inside smashes canon into smithereens, but young Ariel was too cute to resist.

Young Ariel and... )

Book 3: A Special Song

Panders to the Disney Princess philosophy that any girl can be a princess. The story's little too sentimental for my tastes, but then again, I'm not the target audience. I'm just here for the art. Wait, does that make me a sub-section of the target audience...?

The cover. )

I've listed out my DVD collection at DVD aficionado:
The Overview // The Full DVD List.
*I tried to be as accurate as possible, but some of the regions are wrong.

However, this list does not include the following DVD titles that aren't in the database (I can't be bothered to add them yet):

+ Brainiac: Science Abuse
+ Happily Ever After tv series vol. 1, 2, 3 and 4
+ Hugo the Hippo (which will probably be the subject for my next minor shrine)
+ A Peanuts Celebration
+ Saban's The Little Mermaid vol. 1 and 2
+ Swan Lake / Hakucho no Mizumi
+ Norman Conquests (a British series) vol. 1, 2 and 3
+ Xena: Warrior Princess (various episodes)

I haven't even started on my VCDs and videos.

I had no idea I was this far gone. No idea.

I went to Jigsaw World today and identified the puzzle I intend to buy once I save up some moolah. It's a 4000-piece collage of various Disney movies from Steamboat Willie to Snow White to the Hunchback of Notre Dame. My goal is to complete it within 24 hours. \m| ^_^ |m/

My previous jigsaw project. )

Edited to add: Now with photographic evidence! )

I swear I'm perfectly normal otherwise.

It's really silly, but over the past year I've been collecting videos and dvds through ebay and amazon but until now I haven't watched all of them either because of I haven't had time or because I'd lost the enthusiasm I had when I first purchased them. Whatever the case, today I found some time to watch a few episodes of my My Little Pony boxed set, specifically the episode The Return of Tambelon.

Oh my, is that continuity I see? Yay! )

I have a new distraction project. Tee hee.

I'm making a webpage roughly entitled "Mary Poppins: The Movie versus The Stage" where I want to quantify the differences between the movie version and stage version of the story. It's a headache having to code things from scratch since I don't have my usual resources, but I still want to do it anyway. What I have so far (just completed this morning) is the main page. It's still a work-in-progress but my itchy fingers want to show it off anyway.

When I get the books, it will be The Books versus The Movie versus The Stage. *rubs hands together*

Unfortunately, my memory of the movie is going fast. The last time I saw it was earlier this year, and I'm afraid I'm going to misquote some things. So... Are there are Mary Poppins specialists on my flist? Can anyone recommend good Mary Poppins sites?

I've been away for a while doing holiday-type things, and I come back to a house being packed up. GAH. This is the perfect example of when RL gets in the way of fandom. At the heart of the matter, I'm leaving London. The packers are coming in on Monday to take most of our stuff, save a few essentials to tide me over until November. They are taking my computer.

The issue is not internet access, for I'll be keeping my father's laptop and there are internet cafes all around. The issue here is that my father failed to inform me that I cannot install programs into his laptop.

Which means for 55 days I will not have:
  • Miranda - No chatting with my friends who are halfway across the world and keep me from getting homesick.

  • Limewire - No downloads.

  • DVD-ROM - No burning of CDs and DVDs for people who've requested stuff from me*.

  • Paintshop - No fiddling around with pictures for icons, banners or anything else.

  • AceFTP - No mp3 posts or the updating of my site.

Today's entry was brought to you by the letter L (for Livid) and the number 55.

*[info]joeytheteapot and [info]forever_ivory need not worry. Your stuff is burned and ready.
