Time to get back into the groove
I am allergic to my room.

I've been home for about two weeks, and from my initial arrival until yesterday my eyes were puffy, red and omg so itchy. I put off going to see a doctor for as long as possible because I'm silly that way, until my mum arrived, took one look at me and went, "GO TO A CLINIC. RIGHT NOW."

Dust mites = very bad.

However, any excuse to give my room a makeover = very good.

Unpacking has been fun, too. It's like uber-Christmas, ripping through boxes and bubble wrap like there's no tomorrow. I also finally got to have a look through that Encyclopedia of Disney Characters that I bought off ebay but didn't get a chance to read while I was in London.

Georgette is one of those characters, common in the Disney features, who have no real plot function but who, despite this status as an add-on, turn in such a blistering performance that it would be hard, now, to imagine the movie without them. A large measure of the blister of Georgette's performance is supplied by her voice-actor, Bette Midler, who has the old-fashioned Hollywood star ability to turn any performance into an occasion; but this shouldn't make us forget the efforts of the animators, the scriptwriters and perhaps most especially, the songwriters. Not since Peggy Lee, as Peg, belted out "He's a Tramp" in Lady and the Tramp has a Disney dog been permitted to give us quite a character-analysis-in-song as Georgette's "Perfect Isn't Easy", a catalogue of self-adoring bitchery sung by Midler with vigour and a faint redolence of Tom Lehrer -- and perhaps also Lassie.

Hee! <3 Georgette.

Hmm, I must have a Georgette icon.

Now, onward to the screencaps! And catching up with my flist. It's been what, three weeks now? Eeep.

Yep, there's one page for Darkwing Duck. Here's a bit from the intro:

The main premise of the series may seem to scholarly readers just a trifle familiar. No one might look twice at the respectable duck-about-town Drake Mallard, a real Mr Average Suburban Dweller, but when he dons a mask, hat and cape he becomes the dashing crime-buster Darkwing Duck, a justice-seeking costumed adventurer who has devoted his life to righting wrongs and conquering evil -- and doing so with style, as evidenced by his credo: "Look good while doing good." As he modestly admits, he is a duck of action, a masked phantom who operates with an air of mystery fueled by his own tenacity and raw courage; his movements are quick and his patience short -- a characteristic that often lands him in trouble, especially when he is confronted with gadgetry, for which he has a ntural affinity that would stand him in good stead were he ever to have the patience to pause long enough to figure out how to operate the various machines correctly.
